John Durcan

John Durcan is the Chief Technologist for Technology at IDA Ireland. His background is in ML/AI and currently looks after the sectors of Quantum Software, Telecoms, Semiconductors, Cyber Security, AI. His role is to work with companies to develop out their R&D capability in Ireland and help grow collaborations both between industry and academia. John also works on a number of large European funding programmes, such as Horizon Europe and Import Projects of Common European Interests (IPECIs). He works with government on key technology strategies and regulation, such as the EU AI ACT and Ireland’s national strategies in Quantum, Semiconductor and Digital. Outside of his role in IDA, he is a member of Irish Aid Rapid Response Corp where hs has deployed with UNHCR and WFP as an information manager.
