Richard leads the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT) teams in Europe and is particularly energised by opportunities to derive new business value via innovative solutions, emerging technologies and disruptive business models that engage new generations of customers. FCAT is the organisation within Fidelity that drives innovation and next-generation technologies such as AI, blockchain, quantum computing and other emerging technologies.
Richard’s career to date has prioritised business transformation and the development of new companies, products and services spanning several business sectors. Having held roles across US, Europe, Africa and Asia, Richard also has broad leadership experience at both start-up and large-corporate scale.
Richard is highly active in the innovation ecosystem in Europe, and engages regularly with startups, academia, government agencies and peer companies in the region. Having personal day-1 leadership experience in the founding team of a startup, he is keenly focused on driving successful healthy engagements between startups and corporates to accelerate disruption and new concept adoption.
Having joined Fidelity in 1997, Richard has worked with core business units, several Devonshire firms and FIL, as well as numerous external firms in consulting and solution-development roles. He particularly enjoys working in global and culturally diverse environments having led teams in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Africa, Asia, and throughout mainland Europe.
